Who Was Emily Morgan?
Emily Morgan was an indentured servant in the service of Colonel James Morgan. Born Emily D. West, she changed her name to that of her master, as was the custom at the time. Her famous seduction of Mexico’s famed General Santa Ana allowed the Texas cavalry to win independence from Mexico during the Texas Revolution. When the Texans waged their battle, the general was too involved with Emily to answer the call to action.
7th and 13th Floor Hauntings
The 7th floor of the complex was home to the psychiatric ward and is said to be the most haunted floor of the hotel. Visitors report seeing a Ghost Bride who often wakes guests with terrifying screams. No one knows her or her connection to the hotel.
Technically there is no 13th floor, as was the tradition during that era. The hotel skipped the 13th floor and moved straight from the 12th to the 14th due to superstition. This floor contained the waiting area, and visitors say that the floor has the distinct odor of a hospital.
Eerie Basement
The basement incorporated the morgue and crematorium. The area is blocked off to anyone not on the hotel staff, but employees tell us that the air is heavy and smells of burning flesh. There is also talk of floating orbs and disembodied voices crying out in pain. Bodies cremated in the basement range in the hundreds, leaving plenty of spirits to roam the area.
Mysterious Paranormal Activity
Guests of the Emily Morgan Hotel report hearing the sound of gurneys pushed down the hallways. Housekeepers find pillows on the floor of beds just made after leaving the room for a moment. Elevators work of their own accord. You never know where you might end up after getting on the elevator. The front desk tells of receiving phone calls from empty elevators and so much more.
